The Gulf South Conference retained four teams in the latest NCAA Division II Women's Soccer South Region rankings.
West Florida maintained its stranglehold on the top slot after finishing its first perfect season in school history. The Argonauts (17-0-0, 13-0-0 Region, NSCAA No. 1) are the top seed in the upcoming GSC Tournament and face Christian Brothers Friday.
North Alabama (17-2-1, 14-2-0 Region, #25) stayed at No. 4 despite two in-region victories to close out the season. The Lions are the No. 2 seed in the GSC Tournament, squaring off with Alabama-Huntsville Friday.
UAH (9-6-0, 6-4-0 Region) moved swapped spots with CBU at No. 7 after beating the Lady Bucs last week. The Lady Chargers are appearing in their first Conference Tournament since 2003.
CBU (9-5-1, 5-4-0 Region) fell one slot to No. 8 after dropping its match to UAH last Wednesday. The Lady Bucs rebounded Saturday later and blanked West Georgia to earn their second straight berth in the GSC Championships.
Tournament champions from the GSC and Sunshine State Conference comprise two of the six bids to the South Region Tournament, November 12-15. The remaining at-large slots are awarded to the four highest-ranked teams in the region. The top-rated team is eligible to host the Tournament, providing it placed a bid to host and have adequate facilities and accommodations for teams and fans. The final regular-season poll will be published November 4 and championship selections will take place November 9. Selections will be announced at 6 p.m. Central time, Monday, November 9 via a webcast selection show on NCAA.com.
