GSC TOURNAMENT FIELD IS SET
Birmingham, AL— With the final week of the regular season set to commence, the GSC Tournament field is officially set. Eight teams have qualified for the event, and only seeding is left to decide at this point in the campaign. Both division championships are also up for grabs, and we have yet to find out just where we’ll play next weekend.
The East Division is a three-horse race at the top, with West Alabama currently tied with West Florida with two games to go. Should either of those teams falter, North Alabama could move up, so much is left to be decided in regards to the crown. Valdosta State has secured its trip back to the Tournament, the first time VSU has advanced in two seasons.
The West is an even bigger logjam, with three teams tied going into this final week of action. Harding tops them all at this point, with the Lady Bisons sitting 9-1 in conference play. Should Harding win any of its two league matches this week, they’ll clinch the West Division title and right to host the GSC Tournament. The seeds after that are all convoluted, and we’ll have to see how the schedule shakes out. Tuesday’s two critical matches between Harding and Henderson State and Arkansas-Monticello and Arkansas Tech will go a long way to sort out who will line up where next weekend.
