For the first time this season the Gulf South Conference has two teams ranked in the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer South Region poll.
Alabama-Huntsville (5-6-4, 5-2-2 Region) enters the rankings for the first time in more than five years at No. 6. The Chargers are the second seed in the upcoming GSC Tournament and face Christian Brothers in the semifinals Friday at 4:30 pm. UAH and the Bucs played to a scoreless draw last week.
West Florida remained in the No. 5 spot for the third consecutive week. The Argos (9-6-2, 7-4-2 Region) are the top seed in Tournament and faces Ouachita Baptist in the opening round at 7 pm Friday.
At-large bids are awarded to four teams from both the GSC and Sunshine State Conference to compete in the South Region Tournament, November 13 and 15. The top-rated team is eligible to host the Tournament, providing it placed a bid to host and have adequate facilities and accommodations for teams and fans. The final regular-season poll will be published November 4 and championship selections will take place November 9. Selections will be announced at 6 p.m. Central time, Monday, November 9 via a webcast selection show on NCAA.com.
